APEINTA iPad interface

APEINTAis a research project that aims to get an inclusive education for deaf students. APEINTA is a cloud computing system that enables teachers and other speakers to transcribe their speech to subtitles and show them in real time in any web enabled device in or outside the classroom. The project and interface won the Delegates Prize in the Microsoft Accessibility Challenge of the Web for All Conference 2011in Hyderabad, India.

My role was to design the interface of the client application, applying Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines for the iPad and leveraging the capabilities of the device to, for example, show different display modes depending on the orientation: subtitle mode and plain text mode. Play this video for a brief overview of the project and the interface in use:
